Edwin "Eddie" Vieira Garcia was born on February 21, 1959, in Sao Roque, Pico, to Manuel and Teresa Garcia. As the youngest of three boys, Eddie was protected by his older brothers, Manuel and Joe. Their close-knit bond was evident from the beginning, shaping the foundation of Eddie's belief in the importance of family. Three years after his birth, Eddie's family welcomed a new addition with the arrival of his sister, Maria. Taking on the role of protective big brother, Eddie watched over Maria, just as his older brothers had shown him. In September 1969, the Garcia family embarked on a significant journey, leaving their small island home behind to start a new life in the United States of America. Eventually, the family established their home in San Jose, California. At the age of 12, Eddie met his future wife, Rosalyn, for the first time at her family's dairy. Their connection grew over the years, blossoming into a teenage romance. Eddie's parents made the decision to return to the Azores in 1977, but Eddie stayed in America with his brothers. ere the foundations of the things he loved the most. In 1979, Eddie and Rosalyn purchased their first home and began making wonderful memories as they built their future. On November 1, 1980 Eddie and Rosalyn celebrated their love in a beautiful wedding ceremony at Five Wounds Catholic Church, beginning a new chapter as husband and wife. In 1984, Eddie and Rosalyn welcomed their daughter, Jacqulyn, into their lives. Their family was completed in 1987 with the birth of their son, Jacob. Eddie took great pride in being a father and worked tirelessly to support and provide for his family. In 1995, Rosalyn's father, Albert, invited Eddie to move to Los Banos, California, to join the family's dairy farming business. Accepting the opportunity, Eddie relocated his family to Los Banos in 1996. They moved into a house which they dedicated themselves to renovating for more than a year, transforming it into a true family home. Once settled in Los Banos, Eddie quickly established himself as a dedicated farmer. He spent countless days and nights working in the fields, taking care of the crops and ensuring everything was tended to. Eddie worked side by side with his son, wife, and father-in-law, embodying his commitment to family and hard work. Outside of his work, Eddie enjoyed watering the front yard and was known throughout the community for his friendly and welcoming demeanor. He became a familiar face in Los Banos, always waving to both friends and strangers, and was cherished as a staple of the neighborhood. While he loved the life he built in Los Banos, a piece of Eddie's heart always remained in Pico, and he visited as often as he could. Eddie's role as a grandfather began in 2003, when his oldest granddaughter, Joshlyn, was born. He later welcomed two more grandchildren: Kaelyn and Case. Becoming a "Papa" was the greatest honor for Eddie, and he treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren. His pride grew even more when he became a great-grandfather with the birth of his great-granddaughter, Zeplyn. Eddie always made sure everyone knew how much he valued his role as a Papa. On August 15, 2023, Eddie held his beloved wife as she was taken home to God. In recent years, Eddie himself faced several health challenges, yet he refused to let these circumstances define him. Even while he was in the hospital and riding his Harley to treatments, he stayed friendly and upbeat, often joking with doctors and their staff and always making new friends. On November 13, 2025 after a valiant battle with his health issues Eddie was taken home to heaven surrounded by the unwavering love of his family. His legacy of devotion, hard work, and unconditional love for family lives on in all those whose lives he touched.
