Dawn Renee Vander Vegte (Dickey) was born July 14, 1964, in Sioux Falls, SD. She enjoyed working on the farm and gas station with her father while she lived at home in Trent, SD. She graduated high school from Flandreau High School in Flandreau, SD. Shortly after high school, she married Ron Greene, and they had two children Amber and Austin. For many years, they all lived in the Sioux Falls area, and she sang at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church as well as volunteered in various ministries there. In 2004, she divorced, and then met and married Stuart Vander Vegte. In 2005 they moved to the Twin Cities. In 2012, she supported her husband in his dream to become a pastor, and they moved to Dubuque, IA so that he could pursue his calling. In July of 2016, Dawn and Stuart moved to Schleswig, IA where Stuart accepted a call from the Schleswig United Church of Christ. She passed away suddenly in their home in Schleswig. osh, children are Kaden, Jacob, Annabell; Lance and KC, Doreen and Dillon, as well as members of her biological family from Washington and Montana; Raymond, Don, and Lynda, as well as other cousins, nieces and nephews. Dawn was a very loving and caring individual. She always sought to see the best in people and help in any way possible. Dawn took pride in being a wife, mother, and a newly promoted grandmother. Dawn was proud of her children and the individuals they became. They are shaped by her love and the lessons she taught. She taught them to remain strong and to face all of their fears no matter the outcome, just as she had shown them so many times throughout their lives.
