John Joseph Bonk, 67, of Green Bay passed away peacefully on January 3, 2015. John was born in Two Rivers, Wisconsin on December 19, 1947 to Paul and Marion Bonk. In 1951 Paul passed away. Marion married Joe Kvitek who is the man John called Father. John graduated from Two Rivers Washington High School and received a bachelor and master's degree from the University of Wisconsin - Stout in education. He was a committed middle and high school technology education teacher in the Green Bay school system for 34 years. John enjoyed restoring outboard motors and boats, spending time at the family cottage for 45 years, boating with the dogs Mindy, Sydney, McKenna and Sophie, experimenting with new recipes, learning about history, researching family genealogy, and frequenting car and tractor shows with his buddies. John was a dedicated father; he rarely missed a sports game or dance performance. He consistently volunteered for his children's activities including coaching hockey and soccer, chaperoning school dances and EARLY morning dance team practices, theatre set construction, and scouts. John will forever be remembered by his wife of 45 years, Evie (Schuessler); son, Aaron (Jenni) and their children, Anna, Ava and Henry; daughter, Julie; son Pete (Krista); daughter, Katie (Steve) Kaufman and their child due in March; and countless other family, friends and former students. Family and friends are invited to gather at Lyndahl Funeral Home, 1350 Lombardi Avenue, on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Joshua Errer officiating. Online condolences may be expressed at www.lyndahl.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be set up for Leader Dogs for the Blind in John's name. The family would like to thank the Allouez Fire and Rescue Squad and the wonderful staff at the Aurora BayCare Medical Center for providing exceptional care.
