Jason Conrad, 72, of Kelley, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at a healthcare facility in Marshalltown. A celebration of Jason's life will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, in Ames. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made In memory of Jason Conrad to https://www.honorflight.org/donate/ Jason Robert Conrad was born November 23, 1953, to Robert and Lenora (Whipple) Conrad in Eldora, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Gilbert, Iowa, graduating from Gilbert High School with the Class of 1972. Following high school, Jason enlisted in the United States Army, serving three years in Germany as a wheeled vehicle mechanic during Vietnam. He was united in marriage to JoAnn Brittain on December 29, 1972, in Gilbert. Following his honorable discharge, Jason and JoAnn returned to the Ames area, where Jason worked alongside his father at Ames Alignment and Radiator. He later worked at Modern Farms in Webster City, Shaver Tire, Trickle's Tire and Automotive, Universal Harvester and Theisens as a mechanic, before retiring in 2018. Jason was a dedicated Ford man. mechanic in his career and enjoyed tinkering with cars and trucks in his off time. Jason spent countless hours restoring his 1965 Ford pickup. In retirement, he could often be seen cruising the streets of Kelley, either on moped or on his golf cart. Jason is survived by his wife, JoAnn, of Kelley; children Mike (Heather) Conrad of Stevensville, Montana and Sheryl (Troy) King of Indianola; grandchildren Kory (Allison) Conrad and their children Maisie and Beau, all of Ankeny, Johnny (Nataliy) May and their daughter, Monroe, of Seward, Nebraska, Alex (fiancé Vivian Brent) King of Des Moines, and Emma King of Indianola; one brother, James (Sandy) Conrad of Story City; and fur babies Auggie and Penny. Jason was preceded in death by his parents.
