years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Martinsburg VFW Post #5435 and the Fleet Reserves. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, canning, boating and playing cards. He also enjoyed helping all his family, friends and community, and assisted with numerous benefit fundraisers in the community. Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Waterbury, Nebraska; children, Lynda (Lloyd) Ogilvie of Lincoln, RI, Laurie (Pete) Tremblay of Pawtucket, RI and Jack (Tammy) Vicino of Warwick, RI; stepchildren, Don (Patti) Surber of Belden, NE, Kim (Mark) Strathman of Randolph, NE, and Kelly (Toni) Surber of Stuart, IA; brothers and sisters, Nancy (Don) Landanger of Winside, NE, Dick (Jackie) Fickle of RI, Jim Fickle of Washington, Charles (Mary) Fickle of Kentucky, Marcella Story of Wichita, KS and Pat O'Connor of Idaho; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Dolly (Wayne) Noe; and brother, "Babe".
