Sarah Marie Strelow

Sarah Marie Strelow, 29, of Houston, died Monday, December 10, 2012 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. She is happy, healthy, and reunited with her dad, Rick.

Sarah was born in Winona on April 17, 1983 to Richard and Nancy (Schwanke) Strelow. She attended the Academy of the Blind in Faribault and later graduated from La Crescent High School. From country to show tunes, Sarah loved listening to music. She enjoyed watching The Sound of Music, Mama Mia, Rent, Beauty and the Beast, and many other musicals. On car rides, the windows were always down, and the radio was turned up. Sarah had many friends at the group home in Houston where she lived for the past 11 years. Together, they would shop at Bed, Bath & Beyond. No shopping trip was complete without lavender-scented goodies. The staff at the group home, especially Joelle Roth and Tanya White, went above and beyond when they cared for Sarah. To her, they were not only helpers, but also best friends who were like sisters.

A celebration of Sarah's life will be held at 11am on Friday, December 14, 2012 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service in Houston led by Funeral Celebrant, Jenny Hoff. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at a later date in the Wilson Cemetery.
