Pansy Purrington

Pansy (Soleta) Purrington was born on October 17, 1916, in Windom, Minnesota to Fred and Louise (Dally) Soleta. She was baptized and later confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Windom. She received her education from Windom High School. After high school, Pansy moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota for a short period before moving back to Windom. On July 3, 1938, Pansy was united in marriage to Marvin Purrington in Minneapolis. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Dwayne and Dwight. Pansy worked at the Wolf's Store in Windom and worked for the county superintendent of schools for Cottonwood County. She then worked as the Clerk of Court for many years in Cottonwood County. Marvin passed away in 1981. After his death, Pansy continued to live in Windom and in 1995 she moved to Mankato, Minnesota. Pansy passed away on Friday morning, June 6, 2014 at the Mayo Health Systems Hospital in Mankato at the age of 97. Pansy was a member of the Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato where she was very active in the Ladies Aid. She is survived by her son, Dwayne Purrington of Minneapolis; daughter-in-law, Lois Purrington of Olivia, and daughter-in-law, Carol Purrington of Marshall; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three siblings, Lester Soleta of Windom; Delores Fast and her husband, Harry, of Mankato; and Bernetta Maras of Windom; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin Purrington; son, Dwight Purrington; and five siblings, Vernon Soleta, Violet Arndt, Clarence Soleta, Edith Arndt, and Lennie Soleta.
