Betty J. Doherty

Betty J. Doherty, age 79, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2014 and is at peace after a 15 year battle of complications due to Alzheimer 's disease. She was born on November 9, 1934 to Francis and Mary (DePas) Smith. Betty was 27 years old, when her sister Margaret passed away in 1961, leaving behind her husband Dean Doherty, and their four young children. Dean asked Betty to help raise his family and she graciously accepted. Betty and Dean later married in 1979. She worked at Green Bay Foods for many years. Before her illness, she liked to needlepoint, sew and paint wood craft pieces. Betty leaves behind Dean and Margaret's four children; Susan (James) Melendy, Gary (Candia) Doherty, Mary (James) Erdahl and Glenn (Barb) Doherty. She is further survived by her step-grandchildren, great nieces and nephews; Jesse Pamperin, Patricia Werner, Cassandra Hicks, Nicole Daniels, Tracy Stauffacher, Thomas Erdahl, Matthew Doherty and Molly Doherty as well as 10 step-great-grandchildren and other nieces, nephews and in-laws.
