Helen Clarinda Androne
October 8, 1917 - January 22, 2012

Madison/Beloit - Helen Clarinda Androne, age 94, passed away peacefully in her home with her husband of 69 years, Gerald Androne and her daughter, Nancy at her side on Sun. Jan. 22, 2012 after a long illness.

Helen was born in Beloit on Oct. 8, 1917 to Burton E. and Hattie Belle (Smiley) Skinner and lived most of her life there. Helen graduated from Beloit High School in 1935 and from Beloit College in 1939 where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. During World War II years she lived in San Francisco working for the Navy and Radio Station KGO.

On February 2, 1943 she married Ensign Gerald R. Androne of Beloit in Norfolk, Virginia, where his ship, the USS Chester, was being repaired.

Helen was the assistant Secretary-Treasurer of the Newark Mutual Insurance Company and along with her husband was the owner operator of the Skinner-Androne Insurance Agency in Beloit.

Her many interest included, music, the arts, travel, conservation, politics and reading.

Helen is survived by her husband, her son, Richard G. (Mary Jane) of Reading Penn. her daughter, Nancy (Martin) Nystrand of Madison, three grandsons, Scott Androne, Stephen and Timothy Nystrand, and many other relatives and friends.

Arrangements for a Memorial Service are pending and will be announced at a later time.

"To Jerry & Family, I was saddened to learn of Helen's death in the Beloit Daily News. I remember Arnie, Jerry, Helen and myself working together at Calvary Lutheran on issues important to the congregation. My heartfelt sympathy to all of you. I will be watching for a notice of a memorial service."
